ADDITIONAL RACE FOR ORIENTEERS

In view of the changing fortunes of some of the elite trialists for the New Zealand representative orienteering team, an additional trial will be held in the Maramarua State Forest next Sunday.

Next Sunday's course will be set by the points leader in the trial series to date, D.A.G. Pirie.

The third trial was held in the Waihou Forest yesterday morning and attracted more than 50 starters in all events.

Miss Margaret Vercoe splendidly won the women's trial in 1h 18m 20s to attain her points lead in this section and Mrs Robin Davies of Tokoroa, was second in 1h 41m 5s.

Miss Pauline Vercoe was third and Miss Pauline Doherty was fourth.

J. Snedden, a Waiuku Fireman who has performed creditably all season, won the intermediate open race, and narrow from N. Lewis, with the veteran New Zealand representative, S. Moen, in third place.
